The first edition of the international archaeological documentary fest in the Mediterranean basin, Archeolife, will take place in Cagliari next October, from 28th to 31st .
The festival has been organized by Infochanneltv24 supported by Società Umanitaria Cineteca Sarda, The Italian Ministry for cultural heritage and activities and for tourism in the framework of ArcheoMedSites project (funded by EU ENPI CBC MED Programme 2007-2013) and the Cultural Heritage Department of the University of Cagliari.
The event will promote and enhance the Mediterranean archaeological heritage trough visual arts, showing the opportunity to increase the awareness of citizens about protection and promotion of cultural heritage as a common value to safeguard and devolve to future generations, in a sustainable perspective.
The festival will show latest documentary productions about cultural heritage, with a special focus on docs productions filmed in the Mediterranean Sea basin south shore.
The DOC is an effective communication vehicle between cultures to share and promote the archaeological heritage of Mediterranean basin and discuss about it.
Audiovisual will be the tool for knowledge of Archaeological heritage’s safeguard and promotion and a useful exhibition for the promotion of tourism.
The festival will be developed on 4 days at Cittadella dei Musei, in Arsenale square – Cagliari: on three days long programme provides debates and screens; on the 4th day will take place the official closure ceremony
and awards.
The contest provides three sections:
The festival will give to film makers the opportunity to promote and distribute their productions and it want also to stimulate the creation of didactic projects in schools and universities involving students in the ideation and production of documentaries and films.
Participation is open to: projects and films with no restriction about the year of production, theme, format or technic of creation; productions released across cinemas and home video in Italy and abroad; short, medium and long documentaries or films and any kind of audiovisuals for TV and web.
Films listed for the festival will be selected by a qualified jury for each section and it will be composed by cinema and TV experts in the field of archaeology and by institutional representatives from Mediterranean countries.
Documentary screens will be related by conferences (Archeolife Panels) with the participation of experts and institutional representatives that will talk about preservation, promotion and management of cultural
