SANT’ANTIOCO. The University of Sassari and the Municipality of Sant’ Antioco will open the IX Summer School Phoenician- Punic Archeology from June the 19th to July the 23rd, in the framework the European project Archeomedsites.
The Summer School is directed by Michele Guirguis, Professor at the History Department and researcher in the archeological site in Sant’Antioco and in the hospice Area (cronicario), and in Monte Sirai in Acropolis and Necropolis Area, in agreement with the Superintendence (Sabrina Cisci e Giovanna Pietra) and with the cooperation of Ati Ifras Society. The twenty conferences will take place in the evenings (Sala consiliare, from 7.00 pm), with Experts of Phoenician and Punic area. The conferences are organized for students and for the public, to share knowledge about past and Cultural Heritage. The mail topic will be “Phoenicians between East and Sardinia in I millennium B.C. and the new perspectives”. The programme will be published on the web site www.uniss.it.
ARCHEOMEDSITES project is co-financed by the European Union in the framework of ENPI CBC Med Sea Basin Programme 2007-2013. The main goal of the project is to create a network of institutions in the Mediterranean area for the protection and enhancement of archaeological sites and urban areas, to standardize good practice, to disseminate knowledge, to promote exchanges between professionals and, then, to involve other European countries and those of the Mediterranean Basin.
