Despite the overlapping of the modern city on the ancient makes archaeological finds episodic, Cagliari preserves many evidences of its past, among them the necropolis of Tuvixeddu takes on an important position.
With over 1000 tombs so far brought to light, Tuvixeddu hosts one of the largest Punic necropolis in the Mediterranean, as well as numerous tombs, even monumental, from the Roman period, preserved in remarkable conditions for an urban area exposed to strong human pressures for centuries.
