Under the patronage of H.E. Minister Raymond Araygi, the Local Management Unit at the Ministry of Culture launched, in collaboration with the Italian NGO Ricerca e Cooperazione, the EU-funded project ARCHEOMEDSITES on the 6th of February 2015.
A number of administrative and political figures, cultural and municipal bodies as well as local NGOs, civil society and scouts, individuals and institutions concerned with heritage management and protection, namely the UNESCO regional office in Beirut, were present during the event.
Dr. Seif – person in charge of Archeomedsites Project on behalf of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture and Mr. Colavito, Archeomedsites Project Manager attended the event.
Planned local cultural activities that will take place in and outside Tyre mainly focus on Preparation of a local management plan for the City and Al Bass, launching of awareness campaigns for residents and civil society as well as stimulation of voluntary work of civil society that aims to enhance the World Heritage Site of Tyre.
